It’s no secret our dogs love playing in the snow, and enjoy everything that winter in Maine has to offer.  But not all dogs are that fortunate.  Honor your beloved pets with a donation to the Animal Welfare Society’s Share the Love event.  Your gift supports the work of AWS transporting pets from overcrowded shelters throughout the country to Maine, where they can be adopted into loving new homes and experience all that New England has to offer!

For over 1,000 animals, dreams of a New England winter are now reality. Through PAWS Across America, when space allows, AWS receives adoptable pets from other shelters and rescue groups in need of help placing their animals.  Due to pet overpopulation, many shelters, particularly in the southern states, are faced with euthanizing healthy and highly adoptable dogs and cats.  To prevent this devastating outcome, the Animal Welfare Society’s program PAWS Across America, works to transport animals from high-supply/low-demand areas to AWS, where they can find a loving home.

However, AWS cannot do it without your support.  Your donation allows AWS to facilitate these transfer efforts making sure animals from across the country have a chance to find their forever home. This winter, consider helping to bring the Southern Belles and Gents to snowy Maine.  Your gift helps to transport these animals to the AWS shelter in West Kennebunk, Maine, prepare them for adoption and give them safe housing until they find a home of their own.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Animal Welfare Society, a No Kill shelter, and last year they achieved a huge milestone with 98% of the animals in their care finding forever homes!  That means 1,532 dogs, 1,749 cats, and 776 small animals, for a total of 4,057 former shelter pets are enjoying this snow day!  To learn more about the great work they do helping animals in need, please visit the Animal Welfare Society.
