Bald Pate Mountain, Bridgton, Maine

With trails ranging from easy to moderately difficult, Bald Pate Mountain in Bridgton, Maine is a dog friendly hiking adventure. Consisting of 486 acres of forest, meadows, and granite-topped scenic overlooks, the trail network is 6.7 miles, and range from short under a mile hikes to longer 2 mile adventures.

Dogs are allowed on-leash, and please carry out all pet waste. Parking is available off of Rt 107 in South Bridgton, approximately 0.4 miles from Five Fields Farm headed south on 107. Look for the sign! Please note there is a different parking area on Moose Pond Cove Road for those who want to hike the Micah Trail. The trails are maintained by the Loon Echo Land Trust, and are open year round.

On the day we visited we hiked the 0.9 mile Bob Chase Scenic Loop (blue trail blazes), which is well marked and easy to follow.

It begins as an easy hike…

…but does get steep as you climb the approximately 300′ elevation gain from the parking lot to the 1100′ summit.

But it is breathtaking when the forest opens up…

…to reveal beautiful summit views.

To extend your visit, you can explore the intersecting trails, but we saved that for a future visit.

Instead we spent time relaxing on the summit, just watching the clouds roll by.

Join us next week as we continue Asa’s World Tour of Maine!
