Attention Dog Ufologists! Keep your eyes to the sky because tonight is a celestial triple threat! Tonight is the Snow Full Moon, but that will be overshadowed by a lunar eclipse. While the Moon is shaded in darkness, Comet 45P will be buzzing past the Earth. Making it the perfect storm for UFOs to sneak into our atmosphere undetected. Asa, stop rolling your eyes! This is serious.
For those of you nonbelievers like Asa, who need to see it to believe it, here is the schedule of events as best as I can tell for the East Coast. The Snow Full Moon will be visible on the horizon around 5:30 PM. Approximately two hours later, by 7:43 PM (6:43 p.m. CT, 5:43 p.m. MT and 4:43 p.m. PT), it will be fully shaded in gray, and by 9:55 PM the lunar eclipse should be over and the Moon visible as normal. Then around 10:33 PM Comet 45P, also known as Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusáková, will be seen in the night sky as a little green light. According to NASA, it will be easiest to see through a telescope or binoculars around 3:00 AM in the Hercules constellation, because it will be “only” 7.4 million miles away from Earth!
So what makes me so sure that this celestial trifecta is the moment Aliens are planning an invasion of Earth? Well everyone knows that Aliens hide their UFOs on the dark side of the Moon. However, tonight when the Moon should be at it’s brightest, instead it will be hidden in the Earth’s shadow because this is one of those rare occasions when the Earth and the Sun will be perfectly aligned. The Aliens chose this event because this is a penumbral lunar eclipse, a much more subtle eclipse than a total eclipse, so not as many people will be watching. Wouldn’t want to arouse our suspicions with something more flashy. Then while cloaked in darkness, that gives the Aliens time to launch their spaceships toward Earth. But in order to avoid detection, they have masterfully timed it to coincide with the comet! People will no doubt think that the green light in the sky is the comet. When in reality it could be a UFO headed to Earth to abduct innocent dogs!
For those of you who do not own a telescope or if it is overcast in your neck of the woods, you can watch this all unfold on a live stream hosted by the Sloosh Observatory. Now if you’ll please excuse me, I need to rest up because I have a very busy night ahead!
[Editor’s Note: Once again Asa would like to remind readers that opinions expressed by Chuck Billy aren’t necessarily those of Living with a Golden. Sometimes a full moon/lunar eclipse/comet is just a full moon/lunar eclipse/comet and not a UFO invasion!]
