Mom and Asa have been very busy festooning every inch of this house with some sort of Christmas decoration. It is funny how each of us react to decorating differently. Take my brother angel Lemmy for example. He detested change, and was always upset this time of year. Lemmy would pace around the house growling, before finally retreating under the sofa table to pout. As for me, I prefer a more supervisory role. I will position myself in Mom’s path, and watch as she runs about the house jingling all the way. Asa, now no one’s enthusiasm compares to him! He will happily follow Mom up to the attic, then down to the basement, then back up to the attic, helping to choose decorations, and will marvel at the splendor as each room is finished. So while I assume my spot in the hallway, and Asa races up the stairs, I will leave you with a holiday classic parodied by Asa a few years ago. Ladies and gentlemen, may I present the dog version of “Deck the Halls!”
Deck the Dogs with boughs of holly
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
‘Tis the season for humans’ folly
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Don we now our ugly sweaters
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
Though we have fur for this weather
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
See the tempting tree before us
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Not sure why all of the fuss?
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Mom follows me in merry measure
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
While I run off with a Yuletide treasure
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Fast away our dignity passes
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Time to ignore our obedience classes
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Bark we joyous, all together
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Now Mom keeps me on a short tether!
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!
