Dog Mountain Vermont

I realized we never made a video for our review of Dog Mountain last year!  Home of the Stephen Huneck Gallery, Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury, Vermont is 150 acres on a mountain top with trails, ponds, and fields for dogs and their humans to enjoy year round.  There are over two miles of trails through wildflower fields, dense forest and scenic vistas, with whimsical touches of Stephen Huneck’s art nestled along the way.  The fields are a great place to enjoy fetch surrounded by beautiful views, and the pond is always a favorite destination for dogs.

In addition to the tail wagging fun, Dog Mountain is also a sacred place to remember fur friends who have crossed Rainbow Bridge.  The walls of the chapel are covered with tributes to pets who have left paw prints on their owners’ hearts.  Although emotional to view the countless messages of love and devotion, a visit to Dog Chapel is also uplifting.  Huneck wanted his chapel to not only be a place to grieve, but also a place to celebrate the beautiful bond between dogs and their owners.  Huneck wanted Dog Mountain to be a place where dogs would have “the most fun they possibly could.”  A goal he achieved in his brief life, and is carried on today through the work of Friends of Dog Mountain.

There is no leash law at Dog Mountain.  There is no admission fee.  Dogs are free to run, play, and swim.  Dog Mountain and Dog Chapel are solely supported through the sale of Stephen Huneck’s art and donations to this dog paradise.  For more information on visiting including directions, weather forecast, photos and more, please visit our Dog Mountain page.  For our recommendations on additional places to enjoy with your dog, please visit our Dog Friendly Places page on LivingwithaGolden.com.

Now without further ado, here is the video of our 2017 visit to Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury, Vermont!
