Our Pink Flamingo Enigma

Our missing Pink Flamingo came home!  His reappearance is just as mysterious as his disappearance.  Mom came home the other day and there he is back with his flock on the dirt pile!  She is positive he wasn’t there that morning, because ever since he went missing Mom would start each day by checking on the remaining three.  So that means our Pink Flamingo came home sometime that day while I was on guard duty!  How could I miss his triumphant return?  More importantly, where has he been for the past month?

Theory 1: At first I thought Asa’s theory that our Pink Flamingo came home after running away to seek fame and fortune seemed plausible.  “He stepped off the bus out on to the city street.  Just a small town bird with his whole life packed in his suitcase by his feet.”  That is until I realized Asa was paraphrasing a song by the band Poison.  Asa is such a bird brain!

Theory 2: Perhaps our Gnome magically turned my Pink Flamingo into Prince Charming, and he escorted one of our neighbors to prom?  After all he did disappear during prom season, and he came home looking a lot cleaner than when he left us.  That would also explain the mysterious footprint we found in our yard and the overturned log.  After all, if he recently became a Prince walking on real legs instead of those wires, he may have been a bit awkward at first and tripped.

Theory 3: There is still the possibility that he really did get blown away during the storm and bird-napped as I originally thought.  Since coming back, my Pink Flamingo keeps mumbling incoherently something about “there’s no place like home.”  He even looked at his three friends and said, “It wasn’t a dream.  It was a place.  And you, and you, and YOU were there!  But you couldn’t have been could you?  But just the same, all I kept saying to everybody was I want to go home and they sent me home!”  Obviously based on this statement my Pink Flamingo was being held hostage.  But by who and where?

We may never know where our Pink Flamingo has been all this time.  However, we’re all grateful that he’s home!  Pink Flamingo, we promise to never take you and your flock for granted again!

Welcome Home Pink Flamingo!
