Football and UFOs

I see in the headlines that there’s going to be a parade on Saturday for the University of Michigan. That is awesome! Beyond my wildest dreams, really! I just wish they included me!

Asa: Why would the 2023 National Championship football team include you?

Chuck Billy: Wait? The parade is for their football team? I thought it was for the professors in the University of Michigan’s “UFOs: Scanning the Skies Teach-Out” online series?

Asa: Of course you did! Why would I be so foolish as to think you were interested in football?

Chuck Billy: Have you read the course description? This free online course is awesome, covering everything from the global phenomenon, government investigations, to sightings and analysis! All taught by professors with very impressive resumes including Iain Boyd, Professor of Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences, University of Colorado Boulder, and recipient of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) 2018 Thermophysics Best Paper award; Chris Impey, who was the Deputy Head of the Astronomy Department at the University of Arizona and is now their Associate Dean of the College of Science; Greg Eghigian, Professor of History, Penn State University, and author of the soon to be released book, After the Flying Saucers Came: A Global History of the UFO Phenomenon; Bill Murphy, long-time board member of the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies; and even Bill Konkolesky, State Director of the Michigan Chapter of MUFON! But why wasn’t I asked to participate in this 2022 lecture series?

Asa: I can’t even begin to hazard a guess, as to why not. But what does this have to do with the victory parade on Saturday?

Chuck Billy: Any university that openly offers classes advancing ufology deserves a parade!

In the interest of full disclosure, we just indirectly learned about this course this week thanks to our friends Sijan and Moose, and haven’t actually taken it yet. But you know what we’ll be doing on Saturday instead of watching the National Championship parade!
