Grandma’s Special Gifts

Have I mentioned Grandma isn’t a dog person? Please don’t get me wrong. Grandma absolutely adores Asa and me, and loves spending time with us. However, she doesn’t quite understand what it means to be a dog.

Take my birthday present for example. Grandma gave me a stuffed animal dog that she said reminded her of me. Personally, I’m much more handsome, but I do admit this stuffie pup is cute. However, when I went to pick him up, Grandma instantly told me, “No!” She then explained that this stuffie is an “educational toy” that I’m suppose to just look at and admire but not play with it. Well where’s the fun in that?

Admiring my educational present

This isn’t the first “educational toy” Grandma has given me. We still laugh about the stuffed animal birds she gave me for my 3rd birthday. Those stuffies made special tweeting noises specific to their type of bird. She told me to sit and listen to them so I’d recognize the bird sounds when I went on hikes. Again, who has time to listen to the birds on hikes when there are so many new things to sniff and sticks to chew?

So here I sit with my newest gift from Grandma. According to the tags his name is Scout. This is all Scout and I will be doing together today. At least it is better than the Christmas gift Asa received from Grandma of a coffee mug with a picture of a Golden Retriever holding a lobster. And it is most certainly better than the vacuum she gave Lemmy many years ago!

Lemmy’s priceless look of surprise when he received his handheld vacuum.
I don’t know why Chuck Billy is complaining? It’s quite a compliment that Grandma thinks that dog on the mug looks like me. Thank you Grandma for thinking of us!
