Langlais Sculpture Preserve, Cushing, ME

Take a whimsical walk at the Langlais Sculpture Preserve. Located in Cushing, Maine, this nature and sculpture park celebrates Bernard Langlais’ unique, edgy, and very imaginative works of art. In 1956 Langlais and his wife, Helen, purchased a summer cottage on this property. It is while renovating it, that he became captivated by using recycled scraps of wood to create abstract art. Today the estate is loving preserved by the Georges River Land Trust, and retains several of Langlais’ outdoor sculptures in situ including a thirteen foot tall horse overlooking the road, a homage to fellow local artist Andrew Wyeth’s “Christina’s World,” and the biggest bears that our dogs have ever seen!

Dogs are welcome to explore this preserve on-leash, but please be respectful of the sculptures and as always pick up after your pups. The park is open dawn to dusk, and admission is free, but donations are always appreciated. The Langlais Sculpture Preserve is located away from the usual Midcoast Maine tourist destinations on 576 River Road in Cushing, Maine, and is well worth the side trip for this fun quarter mile walk through wild flowers and whimsy.
