Lemmy’s Corner

Last week I may have vetoed the suggestions Asa came up with for Mother’s Day gifts. However, when left to his own devices, he did alright in picking out something for Mom. Asa even proved he was listening when I told him about Lemmy’s corner.

When not under chairs to be as close to Mom as possible, or sitting under the kitchen table during thunderstorms, Lemmy would enjoy being in a corner of the backyard. Not just any corner, but the one where he could watch for Dad’s arrival home in the driveway, keep a close eye on Mom in the yard, while also monitoring the neighbors.

Today we are honoring this spot with a special flag that Asa found online at Jenny’s Dog Art. It has three Golden Retrievers – one a light gold like Asa, another medium like me before I earned my sugar face, and a rich red like Lemmy. We may never have enjoyed this corner all together in life, but in this small way we can all be together now.

Oh and that lilac bush on the other side of the fence that now blocks the view? Lemmy gave that to Mom many years ago in memory of our Great Nana and Great Grammy. Now whenever Mom looks over at that flag marking Lemmy’s corner, she puts on the biggest grin. We hope you all find something that makes you smile this weekend too.
