I wouldn’t recommend Mayor Baxter Woods in Portland, Maine as a destination to spend the day. However, if you’re in the area, and looking for a dog friendly place to stretch your legs, this urban park is great place to visit.
Consisting of 30 acres, this park offers .75 miles of trails winding through the forest. This is a popular park for joggers, mountain bikes, and dog walkers. Dogs are allowed off-leash, under voice control. Limited street parking is available along Hartley Street, Stevens, and Forest Avenues. To extend your visit, dogs are also welcome to explore on-leash Evergreen Cemetery across the street. Please note: This is NOT Baxter State Park.
