Asa, I get it. You’re a cuddler. You like to be as close as possible to everyone. While being petted you lean into the person, putting all your weight against them. When Dad is working, nothing makes you happier than resting your head on his lap and watching him. And Mom is convinced your fur is somehow made of velcro since you are always at her side. I get it. That’s your thing.
I also understand that you want to be near me as much as possible. I can’t fault you for that, because I’m awesome and who wouldn’t want to always be with me. But sometimes you need to take a step back. Have you noticed that sleeping has become an odd game of Dog Tetris the way you wedge yourself in around me to cuddle up for a snooze? I know I’m probably partly to blame for this behavior, because as a puppy perhaps I should have taught you about personal space and not let you be so cuddly all the time. There’s also the fact that dogs are notoriously bad at spatial reasoning. But next time you decide to take a nap on top of me, don’t, just don’t! There’s a reason why we each have our own dog bed. Thanks…
