Not That Different

Asa here.  Can you keep a secret?  I haven’t been fulfilling my guard dog duties.  Instead, I’ve been happily observing two Fawns in our yard.  Chuck Billy is in a growly mood though.  He discovered not only did the Deer damage another one of his apple trees, they stole the two little apples growing on it!  I don’t blame Chuck Billy for being upset for them denying us our first “big” harvest.  But at the same time, I can’t help but think these two happy little fellows remind me a lot of Chuck Billy and me.

The Fawns get the zoomies just like we do, and have a lot of fun chasing each other around the yard.

Sorry the photos are all slightly blurry. I was using Mom’s camera without her permission and taking the pictures through the window.

They also wag their tails when they are having fun!

And just like Chuck Billy, when they get an itch they use their hind paw…or in this case hoof…to give it a good scratch.

I’m also convinced one of the Fawns and I share a goofy sense of humor.  Just look at her here balancing on one leg on our fence!  She must have known I was watching her and wanted to make me laugh.

They even have a Helicopter Mom like us!  In this photo Momma Deer is in the woods making grunting noises for her Fawns to come.  One obediently came running, like I would do.  But the other one seems to be giving her a bit of attitude, like Chuck Billy.

So all things considered, I really can’t blame the Deer for wanting to play with our apple trees.  Maybe they thought the apples were balls?  When I was a puppy I was convinced tennis balls grew on trees.  In fact, I feel bad for the Deer that they don’t have a pet human to play fetch with them.

Speaking of puppy, before our big brother Lemmy had Chuck Billy to play with, he had a playdate with a Fawn!  They bounced around and played with each other on opposite sides of the fence.  But then our Mom accidentally scared the Fawn away, and Momma Deer made scary grunting noises at Lemmy.  I wish I could play with these two Fawns.  But as usual Chuck Billy just noticed them and is now barking, scaring them away!

Chuck Billy barking at the Deer. He’s the reason why we can’t make friends with our woodland neighbors!
