On My Pedestal

I take back everything negative I’ve said about Mom and Dad’s trainer.  The man is a genius!  This week he finally gave me the recognition I deserve.  He put me on a pedestal!

Clearly Mom and Dad weren’t worshipping me like they should.  To clear up any confusion, this week in class their trainer put me on a pedestal.  Now when we practice sit and stay Mom and Dad have no choice but to marvel at me while they wander farther away to give me my space.  These pedestals also helped to boost Asa’s self-esteem too.  Prior to that, when doing our sit and stays, Asa would get embarrassed.  He’s not accustomed to being the center of attention.  So rather than sit still, Asa would roll on his back with his floppy paws waving in the air in surrender.  Sometimes he even became a stress eater and would act like a sheep making a meal of the grass.  Asa even went as far as to commando crawl across the yard to be next to me.  But not anymore.  It is time for Asa to be the center of attention!  Well, second only to me, of course.

As usual though Mom and Dad are making a mockery of their training!  Rather than worship us on our pedestals, they are trying to tempt us off of them!  Would you believe they are playing that ridiculous game of catch again, kicking soccer balls in front of us, and even left a container of peanut butter on the ground within our grasp?  But I will not weaken!  I will sit on my pedestal and be admired!  Oh sure, Asa looks like he’s about to explode with temptation.  However, with my barking I am helping him to sit and stay strong!

I’m sorry Mom and Dad’s trainer for ever doubting your methods!
