Pinecone Pummeling

Leashing up Dad and taking him on neighborhood patrol may seem like an easy task. But in reality it can be quite dangerous with threats both from the ground and sky. During my eight years walking this beat I’ve been dive bombed by a Turkey Vulture, had my precious poop bag stolen by a Hawk, and I’ve even watched as a Hawk almost dropped a mouse on Mom. And yes, I’ve also been pooped on by a Robin with excellent aim. However, nothing has prepared me for the sticky situation I recently found myself having to face!

I was pummeled by pinecones! Now on the surface they may seem not nearly as annoying as being pelted by acorns, which by the way is another hazard of patrol. But the surface is exactly why they are annoying! Pinecones are covered in sap, and after trying my best to ignore them as they fell on me during my walk and littered the road, I still ended up with that sticky mess in my fur!

I suppose it isn’t all bad though. Thanks to Lemmy’s Momma Butter, my Dad knows the secret to removing sap isn’t an annoying bath. Nope, it is delicious peanut butter! Slathering my favorite treat on the sappy spots breaks it up and makes it easy to brush out of my fur. Problem is, I can’t reach all the spots where Dad put the peanut butter, so he inadvertently turned me into a tasty treat for Asa!

I sure hope my neighbors appreciate the sticky situations I face for them while patrolling our street!
