Rogers Park, Kittery, Maine

Nestled in a quiet neighborhood is Kittery, Maine’s hidden gem, Rogers Park. This dog friendly trail is approximately 1 mile in length and winds its way through old growth forest to scenic outlooks along Spruce Creek. Although the trail is wide and flat in most places, we call it a moderate hike because the many exposed roots can be a tripping hazard to some on this well worn trail.

On the day we visited, we began on the Leland Trail, but soon veered off to do a quick loop on Orchard Trail. Once back on Leland Trail, we then explored the Stonewall Trail. Finally we continued our hike on Leland Trail down to Spruce Creek, where we sat and enjoyed watching the seabirds playing in the water and kayakers drifting past us.

Dogs are allowed on-leash, and pet waste must be cleaned up and carried out. Limited parking is available at the end of Dion Avenue, bear left and you’ll see the sign. Please be respectful of the private properties and residential neighborhood that abuts Rogers Park.

For more places to explore in Kittery, including Fort Foster, Brave Boat Headwaters Preserve, and Seapoint Beach, please visit our Dog Friendly Places reviews.

Leland Trail is wide and easy to follow. Some of the trails off of it are a bit trickier with the exposed roots.
Explore the rocks along along Spruce Creek, or sit and enjoy the tranquil beauty.
Our mandatory stonewall photo.
Fun Fact: Originally known as Eagle Point, this land was occupied by members of the Rogers family as early as 1677. The property was donated to Kittery in 1958.
