Backyard patrol is never routine. One must always be on alert, because a situation can change in an instant. It is also important to know your limitations when these situations arise. This is what happened to me recently while out patrolling my backyard. It began with the unnerving feeling that I was being watched.

That’s when I spied my arch-nemesis hiding in the tall grass!

Snakes are my kryptonite! So I immediately ran for shelter under the stairs.

Asa, who is a member of the SWAT Team – Snake Whereabouts And Tactics, the only member in fact of that team, immediately swooped in to assess the situation.

Once given the “all clear,” I cautiously emerged from my safe location.

That’s when I spied another set of eyes watching me!

I rocketed into the house. Only to be told by the SWAT Team that it was simply Mr. Toad, also hiding from our shared archenemy, fearing he would become lunch!

Regardless, until further notice all backyard patrol shifts will be done from the safety of my watch tower!
