Across the country over 3,000 Golden Retrievers are on a mission to end canine cancer by participating in the Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study (GRLS). This groundbreaking study is the largest and most comprehensive prospective canine health study ever undertaken in veterinary medicine in the United States. Its purpose is to identify the nutritional, environmental, lifestyle and genetic risk factors for cancer and other diseases in dogs. Each year, with the help of veterinarians and dog owners, the Foundation collects health, environmental and behavioral data on 3,000+ enrolled Golden Retrievers, known as “Heroes.” But these Heroes can’t do it alone, and need your support! This Saturday, June 20, 2020, you can lend a helping paw by joining us for the 1-mile virtual walk to raise awareness and funds for pet cancer during the Morris Animal Foundation’s Stop Cancer Furever Campaign!
According to Morris Animal Foundation, “Each year, more than 12 million pets in the United States are diagnosed with cancer. It is the leading cause of death in dogs over the age of 2 and the second leading cause of death in cats. Since 1962, Morris Animal Foundation has funded 340 animal cancer studies, investing nearly $50 million, and continues to make strides against the disease, thanks to generous donor support.” Through the information gained from the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study they are working to develop new treatments, and maybe even new cures, so that we all can enjoy more years and more memories with our dogs.
Please Register today and join us for a walk anywhere on Saturday! Best yet, thanks to the generosity of the Petco Foundation and Blue Buffalo Company, now through June 30, 2020, all gifts will be matched up to $100,000! In addition, if you donate $100, you will receive a Morris Animal Foundation bandana and a customizable Wall of Hope certificate to show who inspired you to walk to stop cancer furever.
