Tails to Trails 2019

Join us for the 25th Annual Tails to Trails Walk and 5K to benefit the Cocheco Valley Humane Society!  The event takes place this Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Henry Law Park (1 Washington Street, Dover, NH).  The 5K road race is at 10:00 AM, and is open to runners and walkers (no dogs allowed on the 5K route).  The Dog Walk starts at 11:00 AM, and follows a half-mile loop through Henry Law Park.  The fun continues through 1:00 PM with activities for the whole family.  There will be raffles, local vendors, entertainment by 98.7 The Bay, delicious food, and a beer tent.

New this year will be the dog inspired, human agility course! In the ultimate role reversal, humans will compete in a dog agility course, crawling through tunnels, jumping through hoops, and striking their best pose for the judges! Who are the judges? The dogs, of course! Humans will compete in pairs, with one person acting as the handler and the other as the competitor. The handler will coach the competitor through the course, directing and guiding them through the obstacles. The competitor will follow their handler’s instructions and complete the course to the best of their abilities. Teams will be judged on both speed and accuracy, as well as their commitment to their roles as handler and competitor!

Registration for the fundraiser 5K is $25 and the Walk is $20.  Pre-registration for the 5K is strongly recommended.  Prizes are available at the different pledge levels starting at $25!  For more information on the 2019 Tails to Trails Walk and 5K, including race map and directions, please visit TailstoTrailsNH.org.

Proceeds from the Tails to Trails benefit the animals at Cocheco Valley Humane Society (CVHS).  CVHS is dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of animals in Strafford County, NH and Southern Maine.  They are the temporary home for more than 1,500 surrendered, lost, abused, neglected, or unwanted animals each year.  More than just an animal shelter, CVHS is also a community resource for Strafford County and surrounding areas. Much of their work is providing programs and services that benefit animals and their humans including pet food assistance, humane education programs, and Safe Pets.  Safe Pets provides a temporary safety net for pets when their owners find themselves in a time of transition. Victims of domestic violence, those who must be hospitalized for an extended time, and even service people being sent overseas can call on CVHS to provide temporary care.  They are also proud partners in the Chris’ Pets for Vets program.

Thanks to your support of Tails to Trails, CVHS is able to provide animals with food, shelter, and medical care, giving them a second chance to find a loving forever home!
