The Answer Is No

Asa here. The other day I was out on neighborhood patrol, when I came upon a new best friend who needed help. Mr. Snake was curled up in the middle of the road trying to get warm on that chilly afternoon. Clearly his mommy never warned him about the dangers of playing in the street. So I immediately thought of offering the safe warmth of our home.

However, if you’ve been following our adventures, you know that Chuck Billy has strict rules about me inviting friends over to play. Even more concerning, is he has a strong dislike of snakes. In fact, he claims they are his kryptonite. But maybe that’s because he never met my new friend Mr. Snake before?

I told my best friend of under a minute to wait there and I’d go ask Chuck Billy if inviting him to play would be ok. After all, nowhere in Chuck Billy’s 342 page rule book on new friends needing approval before playing inside the house, did he ever mention a scenario where the friend is someone who needs help while out on neighborhood patrol. Also although he mentioned mice, chipmunks, and various bugs, being banned from inside the house, he never specifically mentioned snakes.

You wait here, Mr. Snake while I go ask for Chuck Billy’s permission.
The answer is a resounding, “NO!”
A simple, “no,” would have sufficed. You didn’t have to kill my squeaky snake!
Sorry, Mr. Snake, but you’re safer playing in the road than being anywhere near Chuck Billy!
