The thrill of the chase is over! Someone found Forrest Fenn’s treasure chest hidden in the Rocky Mountains! But who? For those who may not be familiar with the story, ten years ago antiquities and art dealer, Forrest Fenn, went into the Rocky Mountains and hid a treasure chest rumored to be worth $1 million, filled with gold nuggets, rare coins, jewelry and gemstones! The only clues for its location were in a 24 line poem in his self-published autobiography, The Thrill of the Chase. Thus inspiring thousands of treasure hunters, including Asa, to go on a quest to find it.
Not being born in 2010, Asa joined the search rather late compared to the other treasure hunters.
Ok, so Asa never actually left New England to find it. But someone did! The greatest treasure hunt in America has come to an end. On June 6, 2020 someone sent Forrest Fenn an email with a photo of the treasure chest. In Fenn’s formal announcement of the discovery he wrote, “It was under a canopy of stars in the lush, forested vegetation of the Rocky Mountains and had not moved from the spot where I hid it more than 10 years ago.” He went on to “congratulate the thousands of people who participated in the search and hope they will continue to be drawn by the promise of other discoveries.” The identity of who found it has not been revealed, except for the fact that they came from “back East.”
Thank you, Forrest Fenn for encouraging the imaginations of adventure seekers, including Asa! We promise to never stop looking for treasure!
