Then Asa Got Distracted

Yesterday we visited our Uncle and Grandma. It has been awhile since we visited them at this house. While I carried on with the polite small talk, and enjoyed being petted, Asa got to work helping them with some chores around the house.

Upon arrival, Asa made a mental note that someone left their slippers by the backdoor in the kitchen. So when all attention was focused on me, Asa quietly slipped away to move them to a more convenient place under the dining room table. However, before he could move the second slipper there, Asa got distracted.

He noticed a couple of teddy bears sitting in a rocking chair. It appeared they haven’t moved from that spot since the last time we visited, which was many months ago. At first Asa helped them to gently rock back in forth in the chair, but it soon became apparent that Bobby Bear wanted to go for a walk around the house. He was about to take his mate for a walk too, when Asa got distracted.

He spied a lizard stuffed animal on the floor by the bookcase. Poor little lizard must have fallen off the bookcase unnoticed during in the excitement of our arrival! So Asa quickly rushed over to check that he was alright, and then headed to the kitchen with his new best friend. Then Asa got distracted.

It was there he noticed that I was hard at work cleaning up crumbs on the kitchen floor. Asa offered to help me with my task. But I didn’t need it. However, it was during his repeated offers, that somehow the lizard stuffie ended up on the kitchen table. He had just got his paws on top of the table, and was in the process of rescuing his new best friend, when Asa got distracted.

He heard Dad calling for him from the living room, so Asa raced over to check to make sure he didn’t need anything. That’s when he started helping our Uncle dust his extensive DVD collection. Alright, so he may have been a little too enthusiastic with his cleaning, and his tail knocked a few off the shelf. However, before he could help retrieve them, that was when Mom announced it was probably time for us to leave. Such a pity too, because we weren’t done helping with the chores. I blame Asa for getting distracted.

At least Bobby Bear enjoyed a nice walk around the house before we had to leave.
