To Whom It May Concern

To Whom It May Concern, Recently while enjoying your beautiful city I came across this upsetting sign at the park, “No Dogs At Anytime.” Now I agree with you that dogs and formal gardens may not always go well together. However, rather than single out dogs, I think you need to broaden your scope to include others as well, and perhaps reconsider the original ban after reading what I witnessed during my visit.

While longingly staring into your park from the sidewalk, I watched not one but two squirrels scurry across your lush lawn and proceed to stop and dig in your flowerbeds before running up a nearby tree with their ill-gotten treasures. That wasn’t the only offensive behavior I witnessed that morning. I also saw a menacing group of pigeons bully a family enjoying a picnic into handing over bits of their food to them. And don’t even get me started about the mess made by the seagull who stopped to relieve herself on the walkway railing, while ruining the peace of the morning by screeching a song. Dogs may bark, but at least we travel with humans who pick up after us! In addition, although I didn’t see the culprit, I also couldn’t help but notice there was a feather left behind on your pristine lawn too.

Yet the worse offender that should most definitely be banned from your precious park are children! I actually witnessed a small little human toddle over to one of your beautiful gardens and start picking the flowers while her mother took photos! A well-behaved dog on a leash would never consider picking the flowers! Alright, perhaps banning children is a bit harsh, but at least enforce a leash law for them, while perhaps adding a leash rule for us?

Now I can see by your sign that the “No Dogs” ordinance is in chapter 8 of your book. I really would like to know what happened in chapters 1 through 7 that resulted in such a discriminating law. Do you even remember what it was that led to our banishment? Because as you can see in the attached photo from my brother Lemmy’s visit in 2007, this law was in place then too. Perhaps it is time to reconsider?

Sincerely,

Charles William

Please don’t be fooled by Lemmy’s smile. He really was outraged at this rule.
To Whom It May Concern, in summary this is what I think about your rule – Pbbbblllt!
