Unexcused Absence

Yesterday Mom and Dad took an unexcused absence. I certainly did not give them permission to take the day off, and Asa is not authorized to sign-off on such things. Yet there we were home alone, while they were off gallivanting.

Mom and Dad insisted that it was an “important” errand. However, I cannot imagine what could possibly be so important that we could go not with them. They even slightly altered Asa’s eyedrops schedule, to accommodate their absence. Surely they didn’t expect me to change my schedule to attend to the other tasks that keep this home and office running smoothly?

I blame Asa for their brazen disrespect for my rules. He is always encouraging their flights of fancy. In fact, during their absence he retrieved Dad’s Crocs from the mud room, and prominently placed them in the kitchen to welcome them when they arrived home. This type of coddling is unacceptable!

Yet there I waited to reprimand Mom and Dad for their errant behavior, while Asa calmly napped under the table!

Mom and Dad, you have some explaining to do!
