We are very fortunate in southern Maine to have many local land trusts. Here are some unique gifts that also support the conservation efforts for local dog friendly hiking trails:
Great Works Regional Land Trust: The Great Works Regional Land Trust offers a variety of books by local authors ranging from the history of the community, to maps and guides. They also offer cordwood to keep you warm this winter!
Kennebunk Land Trust: The Kennebunk Land Trust is currently raising money to preserve 111 acres of pristine forest and wetlands along the Mousam River. Their goal is to raise $600k by May 2016. You can help their efforts by making a gift in honor or memory of a loved one.
York Land Trust: A membership to the York Land Trust will ensure that the nature lovers on your list will receive an up to date newsletter on their conservation efforts, invitations to special member events and hikes, and a map of conserved lands.
Eastern Trail Alliance: The goal of the Eastern Trail Alliance is to offer off-road woodland trails from Strawberry Banke in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Bug Light Park on Casco Bay in South Portland, Maine. Help them achieve this vision, while also helping to preserve great walking trails for dogs, by giving a gift membership.
