We Got Sprayed!

We got sprayed!  Oh it is awful! We’ll never get that smell out!  What do you mean skunks are bad, use tomato juice?  It wasn’t a skunk.  It was a cat!  What?!  No!  It wasn’t us that got sprayed!  It was Dad’s car!  Seriously, did you really think we’d let a cat spray us?

Dad left his car in the driveway overnight and a cat came by and sprayed it.  I knew right away something was wrong, and immediately started circling the car sniffing it to alert Mom and Dad to the problem.  Asa, as usual, could care less.  After one sniff he trotted off to eat dandelions.  But I expect that from him.  What upset me was that Mom and Dad were oblivious to what I was trying to tell them.  They thought I wanted a car ride!  Much to my horror, they had the audacity to load us into that foul smelling car!  I know our noses are vastly superior, but come on!  Mom and Dad must have noticed something was amiss.

It wasn’t until we started driving when Mom first commented on the pungent smell.  Then Dad’s attempt to make it better really made it worse.  He switched on the AC, and soon the car filled with that revolting ammonia smell!  The windows immediately went down, but to no relief.  Would you believe they actually thought the smell would dissipate, and continued on our trip to the beach?  I’m so happy there weren’t any other dogs at the beach this morning.  Can you imagine how embarassing it would be if we smelled like cat pee to the other dogs!

Whichever neighborhood cat played that prank on us – har, har, har – well played.  But consider yourself warned.  We are going to pee in all your yards on our next walk!  Now if you please excuse me, I have to supervise Mom and Dad scrubbing the car, and let them know if they got the smell off.  Then I need to fill up on water for that neighborhood walk!

Asa enduring the smelliest car ride ever! (Mom apologies it is blurry. It's hard for her to take pictures while covering her nose too.)
