Yeti’s Abominably Long Wait

Asa here. I’ve always felt bad for the Abominable Snowman in Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Did anyone ever take the time to talk to him? Maybe he didn’t mean to be big and scary? Perhaps like some dogs, he was just unsocialized and wanted a hug? Regardless, that holiday special has given Yetis a bad reputation. Well you can’t imagine my joy when I had the opportunity to meet one and call him my friend. The following adventure began during our vacation in October.

There I was enjoying a walk in the woods, when I noticed a new friend hiding in the trees! Surprisingly Yetis are a lot shorter than they look on television.

I approached with caution and politely introduced myself to my new best friend. He was greatly relieved to learn I wasn’t an untrained dentist who wanted to pull his teeth out, or a silver and gold obsessed miner, interested in capitalizing on his keen sense of decorating aesthetics. After posing for a selfie together, I asked if it was ok if I introduced him to Chuck Billy. In addition to being a Dog Ufologist, Chuck Billy also considers himself to be a Cryptozoologist.

In fact, when I finally found Chuck Billy, he was busy investigating mysterious Terradactyl footprints he found on the beach. If he has taught me anything over the years it is not to interrupt him when he’s investigating something! Therefore, I picked up my Yeti friend so he wouldn’t accidentally step on the evidence, and we tiptoed away to not disturb Chuck Billy.

I explained to my new best friend that when it comes to his research, Chuck Billy is quite thorough. So this could take awhile, while he collected evidence of a Terradactyl on our beach.

The Yeti didn’t mind though. It gave us more time to spend together. He’s been hiding in the woods alone for quite some time. Although there are lots of deer here, they never let him play their games. Therefore my Yeti friend and I went for a nice walk while we patiently waited for Chuck Billy to finish his investigation.

It is a shame though that Chuck Billy is always busy investigating something. That was over a month ago, and he still hasn’t found time to let me tell him about my new friend. His “no new friends in the house without approval first” rule is also getting a bit daunting. Luckily my Yeti friend doesn’t mind waiting outside.

Good thing my friend likes the cold weather, because this is an abominably long wait to meet Chuck Billy!
