York Harbor Beach in Maine is a small and sandy dog friendly beach, adjacent to Hartley Mason Park.  Between May 20 through September 20, dogs are allowed before 8:00 AM and after 6:00 PM.  In the morning before 8:00 AM, dogs are allowed off-leash under voice control.  However, in the evening dogs must be leashed.  During the off-season, dogs are allowed all day off-leash.

Tucked away from the more tourist friendly Long Sands and Short Sands Beaches in York, York Harbor Beach is a  quiet beach popular with local residents.  This small crescent shaped beach is popular for dog owners because the harbor is protected from the larger waves you find at other beaches.  Just be sure to check the tide chart before you head out, because space is limited at high tide.  Public restrooms are available with an outside shower perfect for rinsing off sandy dogs before the car ride home.  There is a small parking lot adjacent to the beach, but it is limited to resident permit parking only from May 15 through October 15.  There is however free two hour parking along Route 1A.  To extend your dog’s day out, we suggest taking a scenic walk along Fishermen’s Walk to the Wiggly Bridge or enjoying the cool shade and breathtaking views of Hartley Mason Park.
