You Can’t Hurry Fetch

Phil Collins once sang, “You can’t Hurry Love.” You know what else you can’t hurry? Fetch! This weekend was absolutely perfect weather for our favorite game. Yet for some reason Mom didn’t want to play endless rounds of fetch with us. Therefore Asa came up with this little song parody of Phil Collin’s tune to explain to Mom what the game means to dogs.

I need fetch, fetch
To ease my mind
And you need to find time,
To play this game of mine

Oh mama dear, you can’t hurry fetch
No, you’ll just have to play
She said, “Fetch looks so easy
It’s just a game of throw and chase”
You can’t hurry fetch
No, you’ll just have to play
Just trust it’s a good time
No matter how long it takes

How many heartaches must I stand
Before you find the time to let me play again
Right now the only thing that keeps me hanging on
When I hear the squeak, oh, it’s almost gone

Remember mama dear, you can’t hurry fetch
No, you’ll just have to play
She said, “Fetch looks so easy
It’s just a game of throw and chase”
How long must I wait
How much more must I take
Before lack of fetch
Will cause my poor heart to break

No, I can’t bear to live without this game
I grow impatient for a ball to be thrown
But when I feel that I, I can’t go on
Well these precious squeaks keep me hanging on

Remember mama dear, you can’t hurry fetch
No, you’ll just have to play
She said, “Fetch looks so easy
It’s just a game of throw and chase”
You can’t hurry fetch
No, you’ll just have to play
Just trust it’s a good time
No matter how long it takes

Can’t wait!
Now fetch, fetch don’t come easy
But I keep on playing
Anticipating for that next throw
To chase across the yard
For some squeaky ball
To hold on tight
I keep waiting
Oh, till that day
But it ain’t easy (Fetch don’t come easy)
No, you know it ain’t easy

Oh mama dear, you can’t hurry fetch
No, you’ll just have to play
She said “Fetch looks so easy
It’s just a game of throw and chase”
You can’t hurry fetch
No, you’ll just have to play
She said “Fetch looks so easy
It’s just a game of throw and chase”
You can’t hurry fetch, no you’ll just have to play!

Enough with this singing, let’s play fetch!
