Anything Can, Everything Can Happen, It’s the Story of My Life

Asa here. As you know in good times and bad, I often turn to music to express my feelings. But today, instead of writing a parody, I’m sharing with you the lyrics of a Bon Jovi song, “Story of my Life.”

“This is the story of my life
And I write it every day
I know it isn’t black and white
And it’s anything but gray
I know that no, I’m not alright
But I’ll be ok ’cause anything can, everything can happen
That’s the story of my life…”

When Chuck Billy started this blog almost 9 years ago, he wanted to share his adventures living with me. Hence the name, Living with a Golden. And what an adventure it has been! With few exceptions he has written about our life together every day. Little did he realize though that by documenting everything, he would also be sharing my journey with a disease my family didn’t even know existed 9 years ago. But I’m so glad he did! Because it has become my mission to share my journey with Golden Retriever Pigmentary Uveitis, by educating others about the importance of early detection through routine eye screenings, and to know that for those also on this path that we are not alone.

So just like Jon Bon Jovi sings, “I know that no, I’m not alright, but I’ll be ok, ’cause anything can, everything can happen!” And that’s because of YOU, helping me write the story of my life! With the dear friends I’ve made on this journey, and my loving family cheering me on, I know I WILL be alright with or without my vision! The story of my life is definitely a grand adventure, and I look forward to wherever it leads. Thank you for coming along on that journey with me!

Asa: “This is the story of my life…” Chuck Billy: For the record, when I started this blog, I also didn’t know Asa would consider himself a rock star either.
Asa: I’m just full of surprises, aren’t I? Chuck Billy: That you are, my brother. That you are indeed! You’ve made my life “anything but gray.” Love You!
