Chuck Billy’s First Big Adventure

My Gotcha Day Anniversary reminiscing continues!  For the past few years I’ve shared with you all the great Dog Friendly Places that Asa and I visit.  Then yesterday Dad asked, “what was Chuck Billy’s first big adventure?”  Mom searched our photo archives.  Was it a beach?  Or a trail?  It was both!  My first big adventure in the great big world was to my favorite place, Fort Foster in Kittery, Maine!

Fort Foster is the ultimate place to spend the day with your dog.  It has everything for the perfect day: beaches, trails, picnic areas, and a former fort to explore, with views of lighthouses, historic lifesaving station, and the Isles of Shoals.  The best part though is dogs on-leash are allowed all day!  So it is little wonder Lemmy wanted to share this puppy paradise with me.  I can still remember that day vividly…but here are some of Mom’s photos to help you visualize my first big adventure.

Lemmy loaded me into the crate for the car ride bright and early that April morning in 2012.

I was easily impressed at that age. So at first I was focused more on the grass. But then I saw it, the Ocean…

…it was love at first sight!

We then continued on the trail, because Lemmy was excited to show me something even more impressive. (Note this was before Dad discovered the tandem leash!)

We rounded the bend, and there it was – a Beach! I still remember the odd sensation of feeling sand between my paws for the first time.

That’s when something even more wonderful caught my attention…

…Seaweed!

It was on that first grand adventure in 2012 to Fort Foster that I was smitten with the Call of Adventure, and I have been answering that call ever since!  Thanks Lemmy, for sharing that special place with me!  Years later I continued the tradition by taking Asa there for his first big adventure too.
