Dear Future Self

Dear Future Chuck Billy, It’s me, 2023 Chuck Billy. I know it is customary for a future self to write words of encouragement to their younger self. But as you know, I’ve got everything under control here. Besides, you’ve been very busy, and probably don’t have time to dwell on the past. That is why today I’m writing to congratulate you on everything you’ve accomplished since 2023!

First off way to go on not only successfully petitioning the Olympics to add fetch as a recognized sport, but also being the first canine athlete to win gold in that competition! And then to go on and repeatedly win gold at each subsequent Summer and Winter Olympics! That was ingenious of you finding that loophole to have it included in both!

It is amazing you even have the time to compete what with your preparations to lead the first astronaut trip to Mars. That is so kind of the Martians Cats to insist on you leading this diplomatic expedition after your pivotal role in negotiating peace between all extraterrestrials in the universe and humans. Things were really on a crash course for a moment there between the folks in the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way. But thanks to your leadership you convinced them to combine forces to become the power couple, Milkdromeda! And how cool is it that the Nobel Committee renamed the award the Chuck Billy Peace Prize in recognition of your efforts to foster peace in the universe!

Speaking of prizes, that was quick thinking getting legislation passed allowing dogs to have licenses to operate self-driving cars. By letting Asa drive himself, that sure helped Mom and Dad avoid the awkwardness of having to attend the Grammys again with him. Future Asa, better luck next year on winning Song of the Year. The law of averages says after all these years of being nominated, next year will be your year…maybe!

Well enough chatting, I’ll wrap up this letter future Chuck Billy, because I know you’re busy.

Congratulations and Keep Up the Good Work! ~ Chuck Billy, 2023

Ruh! Roh! This means I better get busy now if I’m going to accomplish all that in the future!
