Dogs, listen up! I am here to tell you to never give up on your dreams. Asa and I are living proof that Second Breakfasts can indeed happen! All it takes is patience, determination, and sleep deprived humans!
How did we achieve this goal that dogs dream of but so many are denied? Easy! Dad woke up before dawn yesterday because he had to make an important delivery to Pepere and Babci who live hours north of us. While he prepared his breakfast, I persuaded him to feed us too, so that I’d leave him alone to eat in peace. Meanwhile Mom continued sleeping upstairs blissfully unaware.
Eventually Mom came downstairs and began her morning routine. Would she notice our bowls were still damp from our breakfast served just a couple hours earlier? Would Asa give it away with his happy dance? Or worst yet let his good boy conscience get the better of him? “Keep it together, keep it together. Play it cool.” I whispered as Mom paused by our bowls. Then it happened. Without a second thought she headed to the basement to fill them with a Second Breakfast! We did it! We actually did it! We got TWO breakfasts in one day!
Sadly though, I ruined our chances to have a repeat performance this morning. After Mom fed us as usual, I got a bit too bold and attempted to bully Dad into feeding us again. That’s when he and Mom realized what had happened the day before. It may be awhile before I live this dream again, but I will take comfort in knowing that dreams really do come true sometimes!
