I intended to share this post last week. But in these tumultuous times it just didn’t feel right. It’s been quite a rollercoaster of emotions, with the world holding its collective breath as we watched the awe inspiring Artemis II mission, while simultaneously worrying about events much closer to home on this planet. However, while reflecting on the message of love shared by the astronauts, my friend Scout encouraged me that more than ever the world needs this reminder to find joy in daily life. Today is my updated thoughts about an Easter card that I received a several years ago.
The card’s message wished, “Hope, Wonder and Celebration this Easter.” This got me thinking, why should it just be one day? We should experience Hope, Wonder and Celebration every day! At least that’s what dogs do. Take me for example.
I start each morning filled with Hope about all the possibilities that the day ahead holds. I awake not thinking about yesterday, but instead looking forward to what may happen in the hours ahead. And despite my mature age, the world is still filled with Wonder, reminding me what a magical place it is. As for Celebration, every day is a celebration! I’m never going to live this day again. It is a one time opportunity that should not be taken for granted.
Oh sure the overall way the day goes may on the surface be like any other, but it is the tiny nuances that make each day special. These moments of awe may be small, but they are still there and worth pausing to appreciate. It doesn’t have to be a grand event. Simple joys are also worth celebrating. I understand that at times it can be difficult to find even these small moments. Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of days that many would deem not worth celebrating. On those days I focus harder on finding that small glimmer of Hope, Wonder and Celebration. Therefore my (belated) Easter wish for you is Hope, Wonder and Celebration today and every day! Be More Dog!
