Imaginary Fight

I accidentally got into a fight with my Imaginary Friend, and now he’s disappeared! I didn’t mean to hurt his feelings. If anything it was his fault for starting the fight. Let me explain and you decide.

We were taking a walk one evening when our neighbor stopped in his truck to talk with Mom and Dad. I knew this chat would probably take awhile, so while Asa practiced all his cutest faces to get attention, I settled in and got comfortable. After what seemed like an eternity, I happened to look up and see this dog staring back at me from the side of the white truck. I thought he was mocking me, because he was copying my every move. How was I suppose to know that was just my Imaginary Friend messing with me? I started to bark. That’s when everyone laughed and the neighbor drove away.

As we continued our walk, Asa asked me why I said such unkind words to my Imaginary Friend. Imaginary Friend? That’s when it dawned on me that the dog reflected in the truck looked really familiar. But why was he hitching a ride with the neighbor? He’s never done that before! He’s always walked the beat following in my shadows on neighborhood patrol.

Anyways, I didn’t give it much thought after that. Forgive and forget, right? Well it appears my Imaginary Friend forgot about me. While looking out the office window there was Asa’s goofy Imaginary Friend smiling back at us, but mine was nowhere to be seen! I asked Asa’s Imaginary Friend if he saw mine hanging out anywhere, but he wasn’t talking. Imaginary Friends must have some sort of code of silence when it comes to protecting each other. Regardless mine disappeared, and I have no idea how I can apologize to him for tricking me into a fight.

Maybe I should check if he’s hanging out on the neighbor’s truck again? Because asking Asa’s Imaginary Friend isn’t getting me anywhere.
